The year has gone by quickly and all of the sudden, Fall is upon us. Homes require maintenance all year long, but there are some tasks that you will want to pay particular attention to this Fall.
Seasonal Changes
With the Fall comes cooler weather, which is a blessing for many of us, but with cooler weather comes some things to think about. This is the time of year that pests will try to get into your house as things cool off, leaves start to fall, and it’s time for decorating for a new season. This is also the time of the season where you recover from summer heat and storms, prepare for drier weather, handle outdoor maintenance, and get the home ready for the holidays .
What Should I Focus On?
Fall is exciting. The holiday season is quickly approaching, the temperature is starting to get more comfortable during the day, and family gatherings are being planned.
You don’t want to have to spend all of your time doing maintenance on your home, but these tasks will go a long way in making sure your home is well maintained, appealing, and comfortable:
- Clean out the gutters and downspouts
- Replace missing or damaged weatherstripping on doors or windows
- Seal exterior holes or cracks in the exterior of your home
- Pressure wash and seal your driveway and exterior surfaces after the summer rainy season
- Change the filter on your HVAC system and have the coils on your exterior condenser cleaned
- Test and clean your dryer vent
- Trim shrubs, trim or prune low hanging tree branches and lay down fresh mulch
- Test your safety devices such as smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, exterior lights, cameras, garage door sensor
- Check exterior caulking around windows and doors after the rainy season
- Clean patios, lanais, walkways, and exterior surfaces
- Inspect fences and gates
- Hang your seasonal decorations
